The sculptures of
Joost van den Toorn (1954) touch on themes that everyone can identify with, such as violence, sex, religion and power. There is plenty of irony and humor, albeit often with a melancholic undertone. The artist adds symbolism to his sculptures through his surprising combinations of themes, use of materials and techniques. This richly illustrated book is the first overview of his work.
